Week 5: Swithland
A Group:
Starting towards East Goscote, then down Broome Lane to Humble Lane into Cossington. Over to Rothley and through the village. Once past the cricket club turn right up The Ridings and head to Swithland. Through Swithland to Woodhouse Eaves, left at the Bulls Head up Beacon Hill (regroup at the top). Fast back down Shepshed Road, careful turning left onto Joe Moore's Lane to Cropston. Follow the reservoir round to the right into Cropston and back to Rothley.
At the Cossington junction there's two options, the main route taken is to go straight ahead and down the Syston Bypass, but some riders choose to go back the way they came up Humble Lane (see B and C route finishes for this way)
B Group:
31.4km / 19.5mi / 220m Elevation
A hilly one for Week 5. Heading over to East Goscote, then Humble Lane and down that to Cossington we then head into Rothley and straight across at the traffic lights. Right turn up The Ridings and into Swithland village. Taking the turn out of Swithland at the end of the village at the triangle, up the winding hill. Regroup at the bottom after the hill, either right at the junction or in the big driveway entrance. The top of the hill has nowhere to stop safely. After that head straight and quick down past Bradgate Park and Swithland woods carparks, following the road to the right around the reservoir and into Cropston. From there follow the road back to Rothley.
Just before Cossington there are two route options. Officially the route is to head down the A607 bypass, though most riders opt to head back through Cossington and up Humble Lane (reverse the way you came). That is the route linked in the GPX file below.
C Group:
